Best Set Design Win at Irish Times Theatre Awards
Jamie Vartan, costume and set designer for the 2012 Wexford Festival Opera production of A Village Romeo and Juliet by Frederick Delius, won the Irish Times Theatre Award for Best Set Design at a ceremony at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin last night (Sunday, 24 February).
This production, directed by Stephen Medcalf, received phenomenal acclaim during the 61st Wexford Festival Opera, with such quotes as:

This is the second year in a row that Jamie has received the accolade for best set design, winning last year for Mr. Man starring Cillian Murphy, which premiered at the Galway Arts Festival before transferring to the National Theatre in London.
Jamie returns to Wexford for the 62nd Wexford Festival Opera, designing the much anticipated production of ‘Cristina, Regina Di Svezia’ by Jacopo Foroni.
Wexford Festival Opera have also been nominated in the category of Festival Opera in the International Opera Awards, which take place at a ceremony in London on April 22.
